HISTORY

The European Federation of Parasitologists was founded on November, 14, 1966 in Jablonna, Poland. The initiator of the European Federation was Pr Witold Stefanski.

EUROPEAN FEDERATION OF PARASITOLOGISTS

The main purpose of the European Federation of Parasitologists is

  • to promote the exchange of knowledge on parasitic organisms and diseases
  • to coordinate researches and networks related to parasitic organisms
  • to support basic, veterinary & medical Parasitology
  • to attract young scientists and students to develop researches in Parasitology
  • to organize a European Multicolloquium of Parasitology (EMOP) every 4 years

Members of the EFP are organizations, not individual scientists. Members are mostly national parasitological societies, but could be any European scientific organization that is involved in the study of parasites. Non-European institutions can be members if they have strong ties to European organizations. Membership fees are almost exclusively used to award young parasitologists and to support students to attend EMOPs.
